Gov. Okpebholo, approves the nomination of Hon. Dr. Washington Osa Osifo as a Commissioner-Designate for Edo State.

 

The Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the nomination of Hon. Dr. Washington Osa Osifo as a Commissioner-Designate for Edo State.

This was disclosed by Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq. Secretary to the State Government in a statement issued in Benin city at the weekend

"Hon. Dr. Washington Osa Osifo is an accomplished lawyer, administrator and politician of repute. He holds degrees in Law, Political Science and Public Administration, as well as Comparative Politics and Development. He previously served as a Commissioner in Edo State in various capacities and at different times.

"With extensive academic credentials and years of governance experience, he is widely recognised for his commitment to community development, good governance and political leadership in Edo State.

"The nomination of Hon. Dr. Washington Osa Osifo will be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for consideration and confirmation," the statement added

Gov Okpebholo Leads APC Delegation on Condolence Visit to Okao of Ologbo

  Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo led a high-powered delegation of government officials and party leaders on a condolence visit to the Okao of Ologbo, Chief Emmanuel Iyase, following the passing of his wife, Mrs. Mandaline Iyase. The visit, which drew prominent figures from the state’s political leadership, was marked by solemn reflections and words of comfort for the grieving family.   The Edo State Government wishes to inform the general public that the State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Hon. Justice Mary Nekpen Asemota as the Acting President of the Edo State Customary Court of Appeal. The appointment is in line with Section 55 (1) of the Customary Court of Appeal (Re-establishment) Law of Edo State, 2025 which provides that: “pending the exercise by the National Judicial Council of its powers to recommend a substantive president and judges of the court, the Governor shall in accordance with the provisions of Section 281 (4) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, (as amended) appoint as acting president the most senior Judge of the defunct Customary Court Of Appeal who is still serving, before the coming of the Customary Court Of Appeal Law (Repeal) Law 2015 and this Law’’.
