EDO POLICE ARREST KIDNAP SUSPECT, RECOVERS DECOMPOSING BODIES OF 2 VICTIMS

Officers of the Edo state Police Command have recovered 2 corpses from the forests along the Benin- Lagos Expressway, who were kidnapped last month from Ekiadolor. The recovery followed the arrest of one of the kidnapers, a member of a 7 man syndicate who operates along the Benin-Lagos and Benin-Akure expressway, by the Violent Crime Response Unit VCRU who engaged them in a gun battle in the forest. The State commander VCRU CSP Osagie Godspower led journalists and health officials into the forest where the corpses were recovered. According to one of the victims, whose mother was among those killed,  the kidnappers struck their home in Iyowa community, Ekiadolor abducting herself, her Mother and the maid staying with them. She narrated that 3 more families were later abducted and brought to join them in the forest, making a total of 4 families. Gov. Okpebholo lauds Provost for rejuvenating Igueben College of Education

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has hailed the Provost, Edo state College of Education Igueben, Dr Victoria Okojie for rejuvenating the Institution within the shortest period of her appointment. Okpebholo made the commendation while addressing the school management who were  on a courtesy visit to Edo Government House on Wednesday in Benin. According to him, first of all let me thank you for your efforts in growing the school from within your five months of appointment.   The Edo State Government wishes to inform the general public that the State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Hon. Justice Mary Nekpen Asemota as the Acting President of the Edo State Customary Court of Appeal. The appointment is in line with Section 55 (1) of the Customary Court of Appeal (Re-establishment) Law of Edo State, 2025 which provides that: “pending the exercise by the National Judicial Council of its powers to recommend a substantive president and judges of the court, the Governor shall in accordance with the provisions of Section 281 (4) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, (as amended) appoint as acting president the most senior Judge of the defunct Customary Court Of Appeal who is still serving, before the coming of the Customary Court Of Appeal Law (Repeal) Law 2015 and this Law’’. Doctors’ Quarters Will Be Ready in Two Months, Says Gov Okpebholo

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has said that the renovation of the abandoned Doctors’ Quarters on Ezotti Street in Benin City will be completed and ready for occupation within the next two months. The governor stated this after an inspection tour of the facility alongside the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA), Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, and other top government officials. The team was conducted around the project by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole. According to the governor, he decided to personally inspect the project following reports he had received about the facility. “I have heard a lot about this building and decided to come here today to inspect the project myself. Gov Okpebholo Frowns At The Dilapidating Nature Of Facilities in EBS, Promises To Uplift The Station

   Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has frowned at the dilapidated nature of facilities at the Corporate Headquarters of Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) promising to upgrade and uplift the station to compete favourably with its counterpart across the globe. Gov. Okpebholo, was accompanied on the inspection tour of facilities in the Station by the Speaker Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, Chief of Staff to the governor, Alhaji Yakubu Musa Oshiorenua, Commissioner for information and strategy Prince Kassim Afegbua, among other top government officials. Defaulters of Environmental Laws in Edo to Face Prosecution — EDWMB

The Managing Director of Edo State Waste Management Board (EDWMB), Amb. Dr. Enehita Inegbenehi, has warned that residents who violate environmental sanitation laws in the state will be prosecuted in accordance with existing regulations. Dr. Inegbenehi issued the warning on Saturday in Benin City after monitoring the monthly environmental sanitation exercise across parts of the metropolis. Addressing journalists shortly after the exercise, he expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far, noting that the state government’s efforts to improve cleanliness and sanitation are beginning to yield visible results. “I can boldly say that we are on the right track in our efforts to keep Edo State clean. While we may not yet be where we aspire to be, we are certainly no longer where we used to be,” he said.
