How Okpebholo’s Cloud will Give Edo sovereign digital lungs - By Patrick Akhere Ebojele, PhD

Image
The launch of Edo Cloud by the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo has breathed new life into the state’s digital governance journey, while also bringing to light the deep structural flaws in the former fraudulent e-governance platform inherited from the previous government. That administration made efforts to digitise public service processes, but with a system was weighed down by legal, technical and operational weaknesses that eventually made a full overhaul unavoidable. With Edo Cloud — a fully state-owned, home-grown digital platform — Edo State has reclaimed control of its digital infrastructure and repositioned itself as a leading example of sustainable e-governance in Nigeria. One of the biggest weaknesses of the failed e-governance platform was the absence of full state ownership. While it supported paperless governance and digital workflows, Edo State Government did not own the intellectual property behind the system. In practical terms, the state was running its dail...

FRILIA provides a clear and transparent guide for land acquisition and resettlement for large-scale agribusiness investments, ensuring that such processes are conducted responsibly and inclusively.  While guaranteeing shared benefits between private investors and surrounding communities, the framework promotes harmony, reduces land-related conflicts, and strengthens investor confidence. It also reinforces Edo State’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for responsible agribusiness operat...

EDO COMMISSIONER FOR WORKS AND TEAM, INSPECTS NINE ROAD PROJECTS ACROSS EDO SOUTH IN ONE DAY. - By Pst Jude Isibor

Image
Barely 14 months into the first tenure  of Governor Monday Okpebholo-led administration; over 400km of Edo roads are rapidly wearing a new look as maximum attention is being given by the State Government. These roads are spread across the three Senatorial Districts in Edo State. It's on record that some of these roads were abandoned projects taken over by Governor Okpebholo, which no other Governor would do; but we have a man that will go the extra mile to put smiles on the faces of Edo People. Road as an infrastructure, is one key element for any meaningful development, because it brings connectivity among places and people, which in turn enhances economy and social cultural wellbeing of any society. This we saw in the administration of the Executive Governor of the defunct Bendel State, Late Prof Ambrose Folorunsho Alli(1979 - 1983). Prof Alli was greatly criticised for creating an access road network across the State: now Edo - Delta. The same scenario is playing out even...

Edo Air: From Campaign Promise into a Living Reality - By Victor Ofure Osehobo

Image
In politics, promises are easy. Fulfilment is the hard part. That is why governance is not measured by slogans, manifestos, or applause at campaign grounds, but by the quiet, stubborn work of translating words into institutions, ideas into infrastructure, and hopes into lived realities.  In our state, Edo, Governor Monday Okpebholo’s push for Edo Air is one such moment where campaign rhetoric is giving way to concrete action, and Edo people are beginning to see the anatomy of a promise being fulfilled. Long before he took the oath of office, Okpebholo had spoken plainly and boldly about aviation. At a time when many saw airports as mere terminals and airlines as luxuries, he framed aviation as a development tool, an economic engine, and a gateway to opportunity.  During an interactive session with members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Benin City, he did not hedge his words. He said Edo would float a state-owned airline if elected. ...

But Gov Okpebholo is quietly breaking ground, setting records, putting smiles on the faces of citizens and the people are feeling the impact of true leadership under this administration as practical governance becomes visible through several tangible projects that are already touching lives and changing economic realities faced by Edo people. In his inauguration speech at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on November 12, 2024, the venue of his swearing-in ceremony, Governor Monday Okpebholo clearly outlined his administration’s development priorities.  He stated: “Our policy to develop road infrastructure is targeted at constructing roads, drainages and bridges, to ease transportation for all.” That declaration has since t...

REPORTER DIARY : How Gov. Monday Okpebholo is using Government Money For Edo People - By Eubaldus Enahoro

Image
Since the  inauguration of Senator Monday Okpebholo as elected Governor on  November 12th 2024, the administration has charted a rising profile for Edo state and this has envisioned an enduring policy framework that inculcates good governance, progress, due process, accountability and sustainable development. Prior to the coming of the Governor Okpebholo's led administration, governance in the state lacked the political will or commitment to evolve an effective or holistic strategy to impact positively on the  lives of the people. But today, Edo people are testifying to the phenomenal impact of the administration's achievements so far which baffles even the most ardent critics, apparently because of the giant strides of the  administration which hit the ground running immediately after inauguration. The Governor has hinted that the secret of his success is the fact that the Federal Government has been very generous to the state and every effort is taken to ensure tha...
