On behalf of the Government and the people of Edo State, I celebrate you, Rt. Rev. Dr. Matthew Akhaze Okpebholo, JP, on the occasion of your 76th birthday.

Dear Bishop, you are a remarkable servant of God, a philanthropist, and a community builder who has, for decades, dedicated your life to the service of God, humanity, and the advancement of society.

Through your commitment to education, healthcare, Christian ministry, and community development, you have touched thousands of lives and built enduring institutions that continue to serve generations.

You remain a symbol of compassion, sacrifice, and purposeful leadership — a man who turned challenges into opportunities by establishing schools, supporting healthcare initiatives, empowering people, and providing spiritual guidance.

Beyond the pulpit, your contributions through business, philanthropy, and human capital development continue to inspire hope and create opportunities for many.

I recall your recent donation of a Geriatric Centre to the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, which further reflects your passion for improving healthcare delivery and giving back to society.

As you mark this milestone, I wish you renewed strength, good health, and many more years of impactful service.

Happy 76th Birthday, Sir. You remain a true icon of faith, compassion, and service.

Gov Okpebholo Leads APC Delegation on Condolence Visit to Okao of Ologbo

  Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo led a high-powered delegation of government officials and party leaders on a condolence visit to the Okao of Ologbo, Chief Emmanuel Iyase, following the passing of his wife, Mrs. Mandaline Iyase. The visit, which drew prominent figures from the state’s political leadership, was marked by solemn reflections and words of comfort for the grieving family. Speaking during the visit, Governor Okpebholo said he came alongside key stakeholders, including the local government chairman and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to sympathize with Chief Iyase over the painful loss. Gov. Okpebholo approves appointment of Hon. Justice Mary Nekpen Asemota as the Acting President of the Edo State Customary Court of Appeal.

  The Edo State Government wishes to inform the general public that the State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Hon. Justice Mary Nekpen Asemota as the Acting President of the Edo State Customary Court of Appeal. The appointment is in line with Section 55 (1) of the Customary Court of Appeal (Re-establishment) Law of Edo State, 2025 which provides that: “pending the exercise by the National Judicial Council of its powers to recommend a substantive president and judges of the court, the Governor shall in accordance with the provisions of Section 281 (4) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, (as amended) appoint as acting president the most senior Judge of the defunct Customary Court Of Appeal who is still serving, before the coming of the Customary Court Of Appeal Law (Repeal) Law 2015 and this Law’’.
