Gov. Okpebholo Scores High on Infrastructural Development -- By Eubaldus Enahoro
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo no doubt must be very excited about the appreciable transformation going on in the state today.
With the confidence of a man who has put in his best to make a difference in governance in the past eighteen months, the Governor is making bold statements with projects embarked by his administration across the state.
Typical of an administrator with a clear understanding of what he intends to achieve, barely few months in office, the dilapidated roads in Benin city which became a prodigious task for the immediate past administration, were tackled through financial support from the Federal government because of the cordial relationship of the Governor and the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
However, the Okpebholo led administration made it a deliberate policy to maintain the bad roads while constructing New ones where necessary, including the two ongoing overhead bridges at the Ramat Park and Adesuwa Junction.
These rehabilitation and construction of roads in Benin City metropolis and across the three Senatorial Districts of the state, as well as the provision of socio-economic necessities by the government have combined to give significant boost to the development of the state.
The residents and passersby have not ceased to pour encomium on the state government and the Governor anywhere they see him as they witness construction works going on simultaneously across the state
For instance, it is to the credit of Governor Okpebholo that travellers going through the Ekpoma- Uromi- Auchi road finally found respite from the devastation caused by the road which remained unattended by the immediate past administration.
Interestingly, one of the characteristics of the Governor is that he is not a talkative and would rather want his performances to speak for him and that could be responsible for bringing prominent vocal people to come see for themselves what is happening in Edo state today.
The Nigerian singer Eedris Abdul Kareem and Broadcast Journalist Seun Okinbaloye of Channels Television amongst others from outside the state have commended Governor Okpebholo on his developmental strides, scoring his administration high on infrastructural development after seeing what is going on in the state.
At various fora within and outside the state, the people are happy that the Governor is accomplishing whatever he promised to do gradually and the testimonies of visitors about what they see going on in the state have been encouraging to other Edo sons and daughters in the diaspora.
Now, at the Uromi Community Association of Nigeria, UCAN, 2026 National Convention at Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area, the Governor was described as Mr. Project and he was commended for being the first Governor to physically attend the convention since the fifty two years of its existence.
As a son of the soil and for the wonderful works going on in Esan land, and the state in general, Anslem Odaloighe Edenojie 11, the Ojuromi of Uromi Kingdom who was the chief host of the annual convention assured that Uromi, the commercial centre of Esanland is one hundred percent behind the Governor and will take the lead in contributing towards the 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027.
While expressing appreciation for the recognition of the 2.5 million votes by the royal father, Governor Okpebholo disclosed that only completed projects will be commissioned, unlike the past administration that left behind uncompleted projects such as the Stella Obasanjo hospital which the state is presently spending a lot of money to complete.
"Whatever we are doing today will judge the past administration and whatever I am doing in Esan land will be my gain in politics," the Governor enthused.
