Gov. Monday Okpebholo is Building Edo of Our Dream with Business Friendly Environment for Investors--Afegbua

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo is Building a  business friendly environment for investors to thrive in the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua who disclosed this during a press conference in Benin City  said the state government is gradually building Edo of our dream and he called on investors to come and invest in the state because of the friendly business environment.

Prince Afegbua said the Okpebholo led administration has signed an agreement with a Chinese firm for the production of a 10 million metric tone of cement in the Owan axis of Edo State.

"By the middle of next month, the first step towards realizing the dream of production of 10 million metric tone of cement will commence. We are hoping that when it's completed, even starting it alone will generate employment and help tackle social vices.

The Commissioner said the State has boosted its internally generated revenue (IGR) to about N9.5, to N10 billion naira monthly, adding that, "the State IGR is hovering around N9.5, N10 billion naira every month. Every thing that needs to be done has been done. We have a very proactive IGR system which is monitoring revenue issues digitally in the State.

"The whole process of E-Gov has been retooled and regenerated and new platforms using cloud which will now drive governance in Edo State. Agencies, Ministries and parastatals are being onboarded on the platform to enable more e-governance and less paper work. The platform is more interactive than the previous one operated by the former administration".

While commending Edo State Civil Servants for their continued support and cooperation for ensuring that the SHINE agenda of the Okpebholo led administration succeeds, he noted that the Okpebholo led administration has succeeded in promoting civil servants who before now have been stagnated in one position in the last 7 to 8 years and no fresh recruitment to replace retired personnel as well as the prompt payment of Salaries of workers.

"This administration has engaged a lot of people into the service, the figure employed should be around 3,000 in different MDAs and 5,000 teachers have also been employed.

On the construction and renovation of schools and Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) across the State, the commissioner said the government has renovated, remodeled and completed 83 schools across the State, adding that about 85 PHCs have been completed and equipped with drugs.

He assured Edo people that every project commenced by this administration will be completed at record time appealing for the prayers and support of Edo people to enable the administration deliver the dividends of democracy to Edo people.

"POWA shopping mall burnt was fixed within two months and has been commissioned , and support given to traders to boost their businesses. The ultra modern market is being built at Ekpoma, Jattu while the burnt Oba Market in the State is being rebuilt.

"We are almost completing the security camp in Edo Central that will take care of accommodations for soldiers and police who will manage security issues in that part of the State particularly to checkmate kidnapping issues. We have also committed certain responsibilities to traditional rulers to monitor their domain in respect to knowing those visiting their areas, trying to string the ungoverned areas in the State ".

The commissioner urged international investors to come to the State which is secured with a business friendly environment to invest especially in the area of agriculture in rice, cassava, oil plam, maize production amongst others.

"By next month you will see about 100 CNG buses that the governor has ordered and 50 of which will be distributed across the State for free transportation to ease the economic hardship and burden. The reforms at the center will also help to mitigate the hardship and in no time we will smile better ".

The Commissioner also disclosed that there has been deliberate attention to road construction and ongoing remediation work of dilapidated roads across the state.

"The remediation work on the Benin- Ekpoma- Auchi road has reduced incidence of kidnapping on that axis," he added

While disowning a statement credited to Emmanuel Akpan, popularly known as "Egogo" in a trending video online, threatening opposition political party members in the state, Prince Afegbua said Governor Monday Okpebholo does not tolerate gangsterism, political hooliganism or subdue the opposition using violent language.
