Okpebholo, Sanwo-Olu, Uzodimma, Oborevwori, Fubara, Dauda, Oyebanji, Tunji-Ojo Among Winners at New Telegraph Awards

The Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has emerged as a major recipient at the 2025 New Telegraph Newspaper Awards, clinching the prestigious Man of the Year (Education) honour for his remarkable contributions to educational development in the state.

This well-deserved recognition reflects the Governor’s visionary leadership, people-centred policies, and strong commitment to repositioning the education sector for sustainable growth and excellence. We heartily congratulate our own performing Governor, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, on this milestone achievement and commend his outstanding performance so far in office.

Also recognised at the prestigious awards ceremony were several high-performing public officials, including the Governors of Delta, Rivers, Lagos, Imo, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Ekiti states, as well as the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The full list of award recipients was officially released on Monday by New Telegraph, a nationally circulated Nigerian daily. The awards celebrate excellence and impactful leadership among public office holders, institutions, and corporate organisations across key sectors such as governance, finance, regulation, energy, and sports.

In the governors’ category, Senator Okpebholo was honoured as Governor of the Year (Education), while the Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmad Aliyu, received the Governor of the Year (Human Capital Development) award.

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, was named Governor of the Year, in recognition of his overall governance performance. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, earned the Governor of the Year (Innovations) award for his forward-thinking initiatives and transformative policies.

Similarly, Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, was adjudged Governor of the Year (Projects), while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, won Governor of the Year (Digital Economy and Skill Development). Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, was honoured as Governor of the Year (Infrastructure) for his strides in physical development.

In the ministerial category, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, received the Visionary Leader and Innovation Award, in recognition of his reform-driven leadership and innovative approach to public service.

The New Telegraph Awards continue to spotlight excellence, accountability, and transformative leadership across Nigeria’s public and private sectors, while inspiring public servants to deliver measurable impact for the people.

Gov Okpebholo Leads APC Delegation on Condolence Visit to Okao of Ologbo

  Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo led a high-powered delegation of government officials and party leaders on a condolence visit to the Okao of Ologbo, Chief Emmanuel Iyase, following the passing of his wife, Mrs. Mandaline Iyase. The visit, which drew prominent figures from the state’s political leadership, was marked by solemn reflections and words of comfort for the grieving family. Speaking during the visit, Governor Okpebholo said he came alongside key stakeholders, including the local government chairman and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to sympathize with Chief Iyase over the painful loss.
