2027 : New Telegraph Award and Gov. Okpebholo's Outstanding Performance in Politics - By Eubaldus Enahoro

There is no doubt, 2027 will definitely change the course of history of Nigeria and one of the major characters in this plot is Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State who is making tremendous impact in governance

As every day draws  closer, Nigerians are realizing that they are the solution to their problems by identifying and voting for leaders who can re-write the history of Nigeria politics with their performances 

It is becoming very obvious that most Nigerian problems are self created and people are waking up to the fact that their destiny is in their hands.

In the coming election, performance would be rewarded by  eligible voters that will cast their votes on that day and it will be a decisive year in the history of this country when voters  will vote in a government that has done very well.

As we all know, every journey starts with a  first small step and as time progresses, the steps increase,  promises made become fulfilled and dwindled hopes are rekindled.

With a matter of time, what the people really need is some patience and perseverance because what some thought was impossible is becoming a reality.

In Edo State for instance, when  Senator Monday Okpebholo told the people that he would develop the state with his campaign promises which includes the construction of Fly over Bridges, network of roads,  sustainable drainages and others, some doubting Thomases laughed and said it was a pipe dream which was not possible.

But today, in less than a  year and six months, two fly over Bridges are underway and several massive road works are ongoing across the  state.

The same level of development is going on across the country and the friendly Policies of the Federal government led by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu are impacting positively on the people. 

Now, it is very obvious that President Bola Tinubu and Governor Okpebholo are desirous of  improving the Socio- economic and political situation of the people by offering  credible strategies to resolve  issues within the shortest time.

These two Leaders are truly dedicated to all their effort to leave worthy legacies and foot prints on the sand of time, which will make them to be remembered and cherished.

Therefore, the  recognition of Governor Okpebholo as a major recipient at the 2025 New Telegraph Newspapers Awards, clinching the prestigious Man of the Year (Education) Honour for his remarkable contribution to educational development in the state is just a tip of the iceberg of more recognitions to come.

Interestingly, some critics are yet to see the leadership qualities of the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo  who can be  likened  to former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe  Ibori who many politicians took for granted initially.

There was this slogan,  "You dey look am, he dey go, Ogidigbogbo", used to describe  Ibori who confounded everyone  with his political master stroke in Delta State.

It is that same leadership quality that Governor Okpebholo has demonstrated right from when he was a Senator and he was  underestimated politically but today, we can see his star twinkling like a diamond in the sky

However, Okpebholo is poised to disappoint his critics with outstanding performances in all sectors. He is  very calm with a mission to accomplish the  SHINE agenda and with the fast rate of achievements in governance  there is the confidence that not less than 2.5 million voters will vote for President Bola Tinubu in 2027

With Governor Okpebholo at the helm of affairs,  we can imagine Edo state  becoming where there will be qualitative education and conducive learning environment for all students and a state where leaders  realize that greatness is not for accumulating property but for rendering service for the good of others.
