Ikwo Noyo Amalgamated Traders, call for Peace and Unity By Maxwell Okechukwu- Abakaliki

 

The Ikwo Noyo Amalgamated Traders Association, a business group in the Margret Umahi International market in Abakaliki, the Capital City  of Ebonyi State, has called for peace, love and unity said where there is peace and unity, likely progress comes

They made the call during this  year, 2025 annual New Yam Festival celebration  event where they showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Ikwo people, marking the end of the old year and ushering in the new year according to their traditional calendar.

New Yam Festival in Ikwo clan features cultural performances, traditional music, and dances, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Ikwo people. 

This year's 2025 theme emphasized more on the importance of unity, love, and peace among the Ikwo people generally and  also highlighting their shared identity. 

The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Market Development and Parks, Prof. Nwogo Ajuka Obasi,  disclosed that the festival Mark's the love, peace, and rich cultural heritage of Ikwo indigenes, thereby encouraging them to keep it up.

The former Deputy Governor, Barr. Kelechi Igwe, who was represented by the former deputy chief of staff, Mr. Okechukwu Nwakpu, on his part urged the people to keep supporting the Ebonyi State government under the leadership of  Rt.Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru  and he also  praised the government people oriented policies. 

The honourable federal Lawmarker, representing the people of Ezza South/Ikwo constituency, Comrade Chinedu Oga, OON, who in his usual manner donated N50,000 to each group for attending the festival and  promoting peace, unity and cooperation .

The  Association requested for government partnership, citing their business acumen and potential for growth. 

Other personalities in attendance include Dr. Obisi Nweke, Who  represented the CEO of C-Saga Foundation, advised Members in the Association to work together and  accommodate each other in business, emphasizing unity and cooperation. The foundation also donated N200,000 in supporting  the  Association.

The Association Chairman  thanked the governor for his support and  encouragement  on behalf of the Association and promised the Governor that the Association would come 2027 return back his kind gesture to him
