National Assembly By-Election : Prince Joe Okojie Thanks the People as he Emerges PDP Candidate

  


Prince Joe Okojie has emerged as the candidate of the Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the August 16, 2025 National Assembly by-election for Edo Central Senatorial District.

He emerged as the winner of the PDP Primary election, which was held in Ubiaja, Esan South East Local Government Area (LGA) of the State on Monday, July 21, 2025.

‎Okojie clinched the ticket after scoring 84 votes ahead of his close rivals, Hon. John Yakubu, who secured 52 votes and Friday Itulah, who got 21 votes. 157 out of the 158 ward and national delegates took part in the primary election, with no void votes recorded.

‎Addressing journalists after the election, Okojie expressed appreciation to the delegates and other aspirants who took part in the election, noting that he will work with leaders and members of the party in ensuring the PDP emerges victorious in the forthcoming by-election.

In a statement Prince Joe Okojie thanked the people for standing behind him-

"Against all odds, Against the hurdles, Against the words of rumor carriers and back-biters, You, the PDP DELEGATES  stood strong in Peace, Love and Unity of the party.

You all went into the voting hall like a family without fear of intimidation or of the unknown, you all sat quietly and peacefully like brothers and sisters and you casted your votes for the Aspirant of your choice in a manner that one can describe as a fellowship together.

Everyone hugged each other and smiled at each other without hate till the candidate Hon. Prince Joe Okojie emerged. Indeed, we are truly a DEMOCRATIC PARTY.

Prince Joe Okojie wants to use this medium to say a very big thank you to all of you the  PDP delegates who made themselves available in the cause of these enormous task of electing the PDP's CANDIDATE for the Edo Central Senatorial District by-election of August 16th.

Thank you for voting for your choice Aspirant which further strengthened us as a true democratic party. Unlike other parties who are known for forcefully asking Aspirants to step down unnecessarily.

Kindly note that all Aspirants that contested the elections are leaders of the party and all machineries have been put in place to discuss and bring all Aspirants that contested the primaries together so that we can have a STRONG, FORMIDABLE TEAM for the elections.

As we now know Hon. Prince Joe Okojie is the candidate of the party and will bear the flag as  a Pathfinder to our victory come August 16 2025. 

The time for everyone to close ranks is NOW as we all have to work as a FAMILY to deliver EQUITY, JUSTICE AND FAIRNESS to the people of Esan Land.

The time is now and the time has come for everyone to work together in canvassing for support and  working towards delivering your pooling unit for the PDP.

The job of sensitization of voters in the area of voting properly and following their results from the unit level to the ward level to the local government level and to the final collation Stage starts now.

We won't allow the agents of Poverty, Insecurity, Economic hardship and Infrastructural decay rule over our Senatorial District.
