Combating crime: Edo State Security Corps commence Recruitment-- Ohonbamu


The Committee set up to reorganize and restructure the Edo State Security Corps  has commenced  recruitment of qualified, Competent and passionate individuals to combat crime in the state.

Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon Paul Ohonbamu who disclosed this in a statement in Benin City noted that the committee has been tasked by the state government to make the Security Corps more effective and efficient.

The reorganization of the Edo State Security Corps is handled by some Military Personnel's, headed by Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe to recruit and train qualified candidates into the Corps.

According to the Commissioner, "those eligible to apply are local hunters, Vigilantes, Retired Military and Police Personnel, other interested citizens, both indigenes and non-indegines who have lived in the community for a long time.

"The interested candidates must possess basic educational background, of sound mind, physically fit,  no criminal record and must not be member of any secret cult.

"The candidates must provide two references who must be well known persons  within the community and also provide at least three close acquaintances.

"They must also have two guarantors, one is the Local Government Chairman and the other, a clergy (Pastor or Imam )."

While noting that the Committee will not accept names from anybody and are at liberty to disqualify as deem appropriate, Hon Ohonbamu disclosed that previous work experience in security sector will be an advantage.

"This professional recruitment strategy is aimed at providing a Corps equipped solely to support other security agencies in combating crime in Edo State.

"Interested candidates are expected to visit https://mco.edostate.gov.ng/edo-state-security-corps-2025-recruitment/ and fill in the required details.

" The timeline for this application is May 5th to 11th 2025" he added.
