..
Edo State Association of the Deaf, Chairman, Mr. Kingsley Eromosele has appealed to Edo State Government to establish a Commission to take care of People with disabilities.
The Chairman who made the call during the Christmas party organized by Christabel Otueroro foundation for Children with disability in Benin City, noted that the establishment of the Commission will give people with disability hope in the society.
According to Mr. Eromosele who was the chairman at the Christmas party, people with disabilities have few representations when it comes to who speaks for them.
While urging the government and parents to give special care to children with disabilities, Mr. Eromosele commended the Christabel Otueroro Foundation for giving a voice to the children with disabilities.
"I was not born deaf, but today I give glory to God for what He has done for me. I want to appeal to the government to consider the establishment of the Commission for people with disabilities because they need social security and health care insurance. The drugs parents buy for their children with special needs are very expensive," he added.
The Executive Director, Christabel Otueroro Foundation, Comrade Onome Otueroro said there is no child on earth that is useless, adding that they should be treated with love and compassion always, irrespective of their condition.
According to him, " The special children are created by God. It is not their wish to be what they are. They should be treated with extra love, extra patience and extra care.
" Since 2013 we have been hosting the Christmas party for the Special children with disabilities, giving them gifts, food and lots of dancing to spice the day.
"We decided to set up Christabel Otueroro Foundation to support over one thousand children with special needs and we have not regretted that decision," he added.
He expressed appreciation to every one who supported the Christabel Otueroro foundation in ensuring that the children have a wonderful time this Christmas.
While advising parents not to be ashamed to allow their special children with disabilities to mix with other children, Mr. Onome said as parents they should understand them extremely and know that it is their duty to keep teaching them
The children took part in a dancing competition and received gifts for their outstanding performance.
