NEWLY INAUGURATED AIDDN NATIONAL EXCO PRESIDENT PROMISE TO MOVE THE ASSOCIATION TO GREATER HEIGHTS

The Association for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities of Nigeria (AIDDN) successfully held its National Executive Council (EXCO) Swearing-in Ceremony on Saturday, 4th April 2026 with a promise by the President to move the Association to greater heights

The event marked a significant transition in leadership and a renewed commitment to the vision and mission of the association.

The ceremony was anchored by Dr. Johnson Adegoke, who warmly welcomed all in attendance and set the tone for the occasion.

The program commenced with the formal introduction of the outgoing Executive Council members, recognizing their service and contributions to the growth of AIDDN.

This was followed by the introduction of the incoming EXCO members, who were presented one after the other amidst anticipation and applause.

The outgoing President, Madam Joko Omotola, was then invited to deliver her farewell address. In her speech, she expressed deep appreciation to the Electoral Committee for their dedication and hard work.

She noted that since January 2026, the committee had worked tirelessly, often without financial mobilization, yet remained committed to ensuring a smooth, credible, and successful election process. She emphasized that their efforts culminated in the successful conduct of both the elections and the swearing-in ceremony.

Madam Omotola further advised the incoming Executive Council, led by Evangelist Babatunde Willoughby, PhD, to uphold the principles of openness, accountability, and transparency in their leadership.

She reminded them that AIDDN is a humanitarian and service-driven organization, not a profit-making venture. She also called on all members of the association to extend the same level of support and cooperation to the new leadership as they had given her administration.

Following her address, the anchor invited Barrister Bolarinwa Salami to preside over the oath-taking ceremony. Before administering the oath, Barr. Salami made an important clarification that there cannot be two sitting Executive Councils at the same time.

Consequently, he formally dissolved the outgoing EXCO, paving the way for the inauguration of the new leadership.

Thereafter, the newly elected Executive Council, led by Evangelist Babatunde Willoughby, PhD, was duly sworn into office, marking the official commencement of their tenure.

The newly sworn-in President was then invited to deliver his inaugural speech.

In his remarks, he commended the outgoing EXCO, ably led by Madam Joko Omotola, for their dedication and achievements in building AIDDN from its formative stage to its current status.

He assured members that his administration would build upon the solid foundation laid by his predecessors and work diligently to move the association to even greater heights.

In addition, he formally dissolved the Electoral Committee, appreciating them for their integrity, sacrifice, and commitment to duty.

He thanked them for a job well done and wished them success in their future endeavors.

The ceremony concluded on a note of unity, hope, and renewed commitment, as members looked forward to a progressive and impactful tenure under the new leadership.
