The Truth About Pedro Obaseki and the PDP vomit

There is no doubt that Governor Monday Okpebholo’s security agenda in Edo State remains firm, deliberate and results-driven, regardless of the cheap noise, manufactured outrage and political scavenging currently being peddled by the factional Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the Pedro Obaseki incident.

As a party the APC views the incident involving Dr. Pedro Obaseki as regrettable, unfortunate. Now that it is being handled by the appropriate security agencies, common sense demands restraint. Investigations are ongoing. No one has been shielded. No one has been excused. Everything else the decaying PDP has vomited into the public space is either fiction, conjecture and outright political nonsense.

What the scum called PDP has done is to hijack an isolated incident and weaponise it in a desperate bid to smear Governor Okpebholo’s administration and discredit a security architecture that is working and steadily to restore order to Edo State. This is not concern for justice; it is political grave-dancing by a party addicted to chaos.

Governor Okpebholo’s approach to security is simple and uncompromising: crime is crime, violence is violence, and no political label offers protection. So far his government has not sponsored mobs, protected thugs or looked the other way when the law is broken. Unlike the PDP era, where political hoodlums operated with state cover and impunity, today the security agencies are empowered to act without fear or favour.

The sinking PDP’s attempt to link the Pedro Obaseki incident to the APC or the Edo State Government is not just dishonest; it is wicked. It is the lazy imagination of a party official that has nothing left but lies. Without waiting for investigations, they rushed to conclusions, assigned blame and cooked up conspiracy theories, all in the hope of whipping up public anger and destabilising the State.

Yet this same PDP ruled Edo State with street violence, intimidation and selective justice as official policy. They raised thuggery to an art form and rewarded it with patronage. Now, suddenly out of power, they pretend to be shocked by violence they once institutionalised. The hypocrisy is disgusting.

The Pedro Obaseki incident does not indict Governor Okpebholo’s security agenda; it exposes the PDP’s desperation. A government serious about security does not interfere with investigations or protect offenders, and that is exactly what this administration is doing. The PDP, on the other hand, is more interested in shouting, insulting institutions and dragging Edo’s name through the mud for political relevance.

Governor Okpebholo has made it clear that Edo State will not be governed by mobs, street justice or political hooliganism. Security coordination has improved, intelligence gathering has been strengthened, and criminal networks are being disrupted. The PDP’s discomfort stems from the fact that their old playground of disorder is being dismantled.

Instead of supporting lawful investigation into the Pedro Obaseki incident, the PDP chose to inflame emotions, insult Edo people’s intelligence and disrespect institutions, including traditional ones, in its reckless pursuit of headlines. That alone shows a party that has lost all sense of responsibility.

In plain terms,  the APC condemns violence in all forms.

– The Pedro Obaseki incident is under investigation, without interference.

– Governor Okpebholo’s administration will not shield anyone found culpable.

– Edo State will not return to the PDP’s dark days of tolerated lawlessness.

The PDP should stop behaving like political vultures hovering over every incident in search of relevance. Edo people rejected them because of their record of chaos, arrogance and insecurity. Their current conduct only reinforces why they remain unfit to govern.

Governor Monday Okpebholo is focused on securing Edo State, not appeasing a bitter opposition. The security agenda is working. The PDP is panicking. Edo people can see the difference.
