Gov. Okpebholo Lauded by EDHA Special Ad-Hoc Committee For Ongoing Projects, Says Taxpayers Monies Judiciously Utilized.

The Edo State House of Assembly Special ad-hoc committee, constituted by Rt.Hon.Blessing Agbebaku to inspect all ongoing projects in the state by the Governor, Sen.Monday Okpebholo, has commended the Governor for  judiciously deploying  monies appropriated and approved by the House into the execution of all ongoing projects across the state. 

Rt.Hon.Agbebaku made this known  when he led a special ad-hoc committee on an oversight function to inspect Governor’s Okpebholo ongoing projects in the state.

The special ad-hoc committee at the ongoing construction of Ramat Park flyover bridge in Benin City, inspected the work  and all other  projects currently being executed across the state by the Governor .

Addressing journalists shortly after the inspection of the Ramat Park flyover, the Speaker said the pace of work executed was encouraging, adding that its completion by July 2025 will certainly ease vehicular movement of goods and services around the Ramat Park axis, especially on market days which often times end in total traffic gridlock. 

Rt.Hon.Agbebaku further stated that as lawmakers of the Edo State House of Assembly on oversight function on all ongoing projects being executed by the Governor, Sen.Monday Okpebholo, it was encouraging to see every monies appropriated and approved being judiciously utilized, adding that its completion in July 2025 would totally bring succour to the people of the state.

He said, " We as members of the Edo State House of Assembly, after constituting the special ad-hoc committee decided to go round the state for an on the spot assessment of all ongoing projects as part  of oversight function on the project's being executed by the executive. 

"We are here today on the Ramat Park flyover bridge and I can say that the level of work done which is about 60% is very encouraging and as you can see the men are on site to ensure its completion in record time in July 2025.

"From my interactions with one of the engineers on site, I was made to understand that reinforcement of the flyover bridge was currently ongoing and I want to on behalf of Edo people thank the Governor for this laudable project.

"Edo people are so eager to see to its completion so that they can start using it and the flyover will bring succour to the  Ramat Park axis of Benin City which is predominantly a market area and for this we appreciate the Governor’s effort as we all can  see the dividends of every monies appropriated and approved for him to work," he added. 

Rt.Hon.Agbebaku however appealed to the contractor to ensure that the flyover bridge is ready for use next year by July 2025 ,adding that it will permanently ease traffic gridlock experienced by commuters on market days .

Also Speaking, the chairman  House Committee on Works, Hon.Isibor Addeh said that members of the special ad-hoc committee were impressed with the level of work being executed by the contractor, adding that the Ramat Park flyover bridge should be ready for use next year in keeping with the timeline for its inauguration. 

He stated that the House would continue to partner with the executive to ensure all the laudable projects are fully completed for the benefits of the people. 

On his part, Engineer Akinsola Usman, the site engineer for CCECC, the construction company handling the Ramat Park flyover bridge. said that the level of job done was well over 50% adding that the reinforcement of the flyover bridge and other critical aspects of the project were ongoing to ensure that the flyover bridge was ready for use in July 2025.

In another related development, the special ad-hoc committee also inspected the fully renovated Army day Secondary School built with a standard football pitch in Ikpoba Hill .

Speaking shortly after inspection of the school, the Speaker commended the Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo for the massive investment in renovating the school which was adequately equipped with a fully functional and solar-powered state-of- art science laboratory 

He said, "three years ago  I was here with some members and we were not able to gain entrance into the school but as you can see now after the massive investment of resources into the school, Army Day Secondary School is now wearing a new look with a solid perimeter fence, a fully functional laboratory and a standard football pitch still under construction. 

"As you can see the football pitch which is on a flood prone land requires huge amount of money to divert and control erosion whenever it rains and we are so impressed with the level of work done by the Governor in ensuring its completion that will contribute to youth development in sports in the state. " he said .

He urged the state government to provide adequate security at the school in order to protect the massive investment in the school from the activities of vandals, adding that similar gesture should be extended to other schools across the state. 

On his part, the Principal Army Day Secondary School, Mr.Osemwenkhae Ezeilekhae, in his remarks commended the Governor for his massive investment in renovating the school..

He noted that the intervention of the state Governor in providing the school with fully functional state-of-the-art solar powered laboratory has greatly enhanced learning experience among the students, adding that  effort was needed to protect the school from vandalism
