MEMBERS OF SWAN TO RESTORE BACK SPORTING ACTIVITIES IN EBONYI- By Maxwell Okechukwu, Abakaliki.

 


The Chairman of the Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN). Ebonyi  State,  Comr, Andy Ndubisi Nwogha  has said that sporting activities will be revived in Ebonyi State.

The Chairman  who disclosed this during a press conference to mark this year 2025 SWAN week  in Ebonyi state said sporting activities has been forgotten in the state compared to other states of Nigeria. 

According to him,  the SWAN members have determined  to bring  Sporting  activities back to Ebonyi state with support of the state Government under the Governorship of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and other concerned sport lovers in the state.

The Chairman, Committee on Youth development and Sports, Ebonyi State House of Assembly. Hon. Victor Umoke  in his parting words during the briefing  commended the SWAN Chairman and the members of the Association for their efforts in organizing the SWAN week 2025.

While emphasizing  the importance of Sports and its benefits to human health, he promised that the state Government will support the Association through  His Excellency Rt.Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the state Governor  who is also a sports Lover.

He also promised to donate  a trophy for schools competition  to encourage and engage schools in the state to seriously put in more interest in sporting activities in their various schools.

Hon. Victor also thanked the State  Governor for paying more attention to sports activities in his administration which other  administrations  abandoned for many years.

Gov Okpebholo Leads APC Delegation on Condolence Visit to Okao of Ologbo

  Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo led a high-powered delegation of government officials and party leaders on a condolence visit to the Okao of Ologbo, Chief Emmanuel Iyase, following the passing of his wife, Mrs. Mandaline Iyase.
