The ancient City of Afikpo stood still as who is who dignitaries around the world gathered to lay the first class traditional ruler HRH.Ezeogo Ewa     Elechi to rest in peace at his country home in Ukpa village, Afikpo Local government Area of Ebonyi State,on Saturday,March 15, 2025, 

The Monarch, Ezeogo Ewa Elechi who was 93 years old was born on April 14th 1931. He was the Traditional Ruler of Ohaisu Autonomous Community and Chancellor of Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, and he left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew him.

The officiating pastor in his sermon during the funeral service,  Professor Apostle Wilberforce Oti,

described the monarch as a traditional ruler per-excellence.

According  to him,  during his lifetime  he gave equal respect to any body that came to him with any matter.

The first son, Barr. Elechi Ewa Elechi told Newsmen that" his late father was a great  scholar and thinker not in the sense of plying  his trade in the academia but in the profundity of his thought and styles of delivering the goods as it were

He added that "his father's  memory  will continue in his life to shape a figure of strength ,wisdom and resilience through stories and the legacies that he left behind. 

Dignitaries, present to pay the last respect to the  monarch  include; Rt. Hon. Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, Governor of Ebonyi State who was represented by his Deputy, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, Engr. David Nweze Umahi the former Ebonyi State governor now the Minister of Works represented by Prince Sunday Ugwuocha.

Others  are Dr. Ken Nnamani, Former Senate President; Member representing Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency,Rt Hon Idu Igariwey; Leader of Ebonyi State House of Assembly,Rt Hon Kingsley Ogbonnia Ikoro; Member representing Afikpo East State Constituency,Hon Oluchukwu Ukie Ezeali; Secretary to the Government,Prof(Mrs) Grace Umezurike; Head of Service,Dr(Mrs) Rita Mary Okoro; Chief of Staff,Prof Emmanuel Echiegu; Deputy Chief of Staff, Engr. Donatus Uche and Deputy Principal Secretary,Chief Oke Orieke.

The Executive Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area, NWACHI Timothy A. U  who received the remains of the late sage at Afikpo Local Government Headquarters attended the funeral in the company of his Vice, Council Secretary, Councilors, Supervisors and Principal Officers of the Council
