GOV. OKPEBHOLO REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO MOTORABLE ROADS ACROSS EDO STATE

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing motorable roads for the people of the State. Governor Okpebholo made this known in Benin City after inspecting some road projects within the city and its environs. Governor Okpebholo explained that the inspection is aimed at ensuring that contractors adhere to project specifications and maintain high standards. During the inspection, which he conducted alongside senior government officials, the Governor visited several ongoing road projects, including the Obadan Junction on the Benin-Auchi Expressway, Upper Mission by Aduwawa Junction, Temboga Road, and Upper Ekenwan Road near the Military Cantonment.  At these locations, he was warmly received by residents who expressed gratitude for his administration’s efforts to address their infrastructure needs. GOV OKPEBHOLO RENAMES EDO STATE UNIVERSITY

  The Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo has approved the change of the name of "Edo State University, Uzairue," to now be known as "Edo University, Iyamho" with immediate effect. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq. and given to Journalists in Edo State "Accordingly, all documentations in respect of the Institution henceforth shall reflect the above change," the statement added

OKPEBHOLO’S ELECTORAL MANDATE ORDAINED BY GOD- AKPABIO

  President of the Nigerian Senate and former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio has described the mandate of the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo as "divinely ordained by God to bring respite and development to Edo State." Akpabio made the remarks on Saturday when he received Governor Okpebholo at his residence in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Ascribing Okpebholo’s electoral victory to God, Akpabio said God had chosen him at this time to rewrite the history of Edo State and place it on the path of development. Gov Okpebholo pays 13th month salary

Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has fulfilled one of his promises made to Edo State workers as he paid the 13th month salary to spice up the festive period for the workers. The governor in previous engagements have expressed the readiness of his administration to make welfare of Edo State workers a priority saying he is determined to pay Edo State workers as at when due monthly. Governor Monday Okpebholo who was sworn in on the 12th of November 2024 paid Civil and Public servants in the State on the 27th of November amidst criticism by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) telling workers in the State that they will not get their salaries on time. Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, said he will replicate Senator Godswill Akpabio’s transformation magic that transitioned Akwa Ibom to one of the finest States in Nigeria, in Edo State. Governor Okpebholo gave the remarks on Saturday during a reception held in his honour in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State. Gov Okpebholo Mourns Late Gen Abbe, Describe Him as a Galant Gen.

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has described the death of Gen Godwin Abbe shocking and a big blow to Edo State at a time his services were still needed. The Governor in a press statement issued by his  Press Secretary and made available to Journalists in Benin City said that Abbe died in a private hospital in Abuja  just few weeks to his 75th birthday. He said Abbe gave all his life serving the Nigeria Nation, having served as military Governor of Akwa Ibom and Rivera state as well as Minister of Defense and Interior Ministry. The Governor expressed sadness over the death of the late Retired General and extended his heart felt sympathy to the family and the good people of Edo State and pray God to grant the deceased eternal rest in peace as well as grant the state the fortitude to bear the loss. The late Retired General Abbe, according to family sources died in a private hospital after a protracted illness in Abuja, the federal capital.

Edo State Government Urged to Establish Commission For People with Disability.

..  Edo State Association of the Deaf, Chairman,  Mr. Kingsley Eromosele has appealed to Edo State Government to establish a Commission to take care of People with disabilities. The Chairman who made the call during the  Christmas party organized by Christabel Otueroro foundation for Children with disability in Benin City, noted that the establishment of  the Commission will give people with disability hope in the society. According to Mr. Eromosele who was the chairman at the Christmas party, people with disabilities have few representations when it comes to who speaks for them. While urging the government and parents to give special care to children with disabilities, Mr. Eromosele commended the Christabel Otueroro Foundation for giving a voice to the children with disabilities. Corruption: ANEEJ urges Youths to Use Technology to demand Accountability

As Nigeria loses billions of dollars annually to corruption, the Africa Network for  Environment and Economic Justice, ANEEJ has called on youths to mobilize and amplify their voices in the fight  against corruption by leveraging technology to track government projects, expose irregularities and demand accountability. The Executive Director, ANEEJ, Rev. David Ugolor who made the call during the 2024 International Anti-corruption day noted that corruption is threatening the aspirations of the current generation and those yet to come.  GOV OKPEBHOLO PRESENTS N605BN 2025 BUDGET ESTIMATES ■N223 EARMARKED FOR RECURRENT EXPENDITURES, N381 FOR CAPITAL PROJECTS Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has presented a budget estimate of N605 billion for the 2025 fiscal year. The Governor who presented the Appropriation Bill at the  chamber of the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) on Tuesday, said it is a 25 percent increase from the 2024 Budget. The 2025 Budget is tagged: “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo.”  The Governor said that 37% of this sum, amounting to N223 billion, will be dedicated to recurrent expenditure, while the remaining N381 billion, which represents 63%, will go into capital projects.
